Chalumbin Wind Farm Project, near Ravenshoe, Queensland (EPBC 2021/8983)

NOTIFICATION FOR PUBLICATION OF FINAL PUBLIC ENVIRONMENT REPORT UNDER THE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AND BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION ACT 1999 (EPBC Act)

The following notice is published pursuant to Section 99(4) of the EPBC Act.

Chalumbin Wind Farm Pty Ltd proposes to develop a wind farm within the Tablelands Regional Council Local Government Area approximately 15 km southwest of Ravenshoe in far north Queensland, including up to 86 wind turbine generators and associated infrastructure. The project will be developed in two stages.

The project was determined a Controlled Action under the EPBC Act with assessment by Public Environment Report. The controlling provisions are ‘World Heritage Properties’ (sections 12 and 15A), ‘National Heritage Places’ (sections 15B and 15C), ‘Listed threatened species and communities’ (sections 18 and 18A) and ‘Listed migratory species’ (sections 20 and 20A).

Public comments were accepted between Monday 7 November 2022 and Monday 9 January 2023. The Final Public Environment Report was submitted to the Minister on 7 March 2023 and within 10 business days the designated proponent must publish the finalised report.

Due to an administrative error the Final Public Environment Report was resubmitted on 27 March 2023 and the display period for the Final Public Environment Report has been restarted.

Hard copies of the Final Public Environment Report will be on display for a minimum of 20 business days between Wednesday 29 March and Friday 28 April 2023 at the following locations:

  • Tablelands Regional Council (Front Reception), 45 Mabel Street, Atherton, QLD 4883.
  • State Library of Queensland (John Oxley Library – Level 4), Stanley Place, South Brisbane, QLD 4101.
