Whirlwind of fun at Great Barrier Reef Festival

Ark Energy Family Fun Day

Ark Energy was proud to support the 2024 Great Barrier Reef Festival as major sponsor of the festival's Family Fun Day.

Held in Airlie Beach, the annual multi-day festival connects the reef and the shore, and celebrates the Great Barrier Reef and the vibrant coastal culture of the Whitsundays.

Ark Energy Family Fun Day, on 4 August, was jam-packed with free and fun entertainment, demonstrations, games, competitions and activities including a donut eating competition, crazy races, circus workshops, a juggling show, an interactive treasure hunt, face painting and DJ workshops.

“It was wonderful to be part of such an amazing event celebrating the magnificent Great Barrier Reef," said Collinsville Green Energy Hub's Senior Development Manager Trina Jensen.

“The festival highlights the importance of a rapid shift away from fossil fuels to combat climate change and protect the reef. The enthusiastic support from the community for our renewable energy projects was fantastic."

A highlight for the team was being part of the popular treasure hunt and hosting children to a craft table to make their own Ark Energy 'whirly winds' - pin wheel spinners made from recycled materials.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an important event and appreciate the efforts of the organisers, volunteers, other sponsors and families who made the Family Fun Day such a great success,” Ms Jensen said.
