Project update

Over the past few months work has continued for wind resource monitoring, technical studies and environmental surveys. Two meteorological masts – also called met masts - have been installed to collect more wind data and the second year of onsite surveys for bird and bat utilisation of the project area is underway. Other studies, such as for surface water and geology, have also been completed. As more information has become available the design of the project has been refined.

Out and about

The project team enjoyed engaging with community members at the Bowen River Rodeo in Collinsville and Show Whitsunday in Proserpine in June, and the Great Barrier Reef Festival in August, where Ark Energy was major sponsor for Family Fun Day.

Collinsville State High School’s Hydrogen Grand Prix PRO team placed 8th at the Gold Coast Final in June, and their car, ‘Quackatron’, was awarded ‘Best Design’ (congratulations team!). See if you can spot the ‘Quackatron’ in the H2GP Gold Coast Final 2024 video.

As a proud partner Ark Energy also attended the launch of the Healthy Rivers to Reef Partnership’s 2024 Waterway Health Report Card in July.

Next steps

The project team is working towards finalising the proposed site layout early next year and after it is ready information sessions will be held at the Collinsville information centre. Lodgment of the development application and environmental impact assessment is planned for mid-2025.
