Speaking at the Advance Rockhampton Renewable Energy Forum on Thursday 8 April Epuron’s Development Director Paul Stangroom shared insights into the unique opportunity for Central Queensland to capitalise on Australia’s growing renewable energy market.

As coal powered facilities are retired, the region’s natural resources and strong grid infrastructure make it well placed to continue as an energy generation hub and take advantage of Australia’s clean energy transition.

Epuron is one of Australia’s leading renewable energy companies, specialising in the development of utility scale wind and solar projects. It is currently involved in the planning for 14 projects across the country, including three wind farms in central Queensland with a combined potential capacity of more than 1,000 megawatts .

Stangroom explained the wind farm development process and gave an overview of Epuron’s projects in central Queensland including project stages, timelines, and economic and employment opportunities.

“There is a strong future for wind development, construction and operation in central Queensland over the coming decades,” he said.

“Australia’s national energy market is in transition. Central Queensland is well placed to take advantage of this and there are plenty of opportunities for local towns and industry to participate in a meaningful way and become part of the process.”

Epuron’s current projects in Central Queensland are Lotus Creek Wind Farm west of St Lawrence, Boulder Creek Wind Farm approximately 40km south-west of Rockhampton and between Westwood and Mt Morgan, and Specimen Hill Wind Farm approximately 60km south-west of Gladstone and 25km north-east of Biloela
