Battery system upgraded at Kalkarindji

TKLN Kalkarindji's management is pleased to announce that it has successfully upgraded the lead acid batteries that make up the backup power system. The batteries are used in the period of time it takes for the diesel generator to increase power after a cloud causes the photovoltaic system to reduce its generation. The upgraded batteries are expected to out-perform the original batteries thanks the previous installation of a CloudCAM which can predict when a cloud shadow is going to cover the PV array and pre-emptively adjust PV power output to optimise the use of PV, diesel generation and battery storage.
