Construction of Stage 1 of White Rock Wind Farm commenced in May 2016 with transportation of wind turbine components beginning in November 2016. It will take 700 oversize loads to deliver the turbine components from Newcastle, via the New England Highway to the White Rock Wind Farm site. Approximately two or three complete turbines will be delivered to the project site each week.

The first wind turbine installations kicked off in February 2017. Fifteen turbines had been installed by the beginning of May and are now clearly visible from the Gwydir Highway. Energisation of the substation and export of renewable energy to the grid is expected to commence during the second half of 2017.
