Epuron announces sale of 3 wind projects

Epuron today announced it has agreed to sell three of its wind power generation projects to electricity retailer, Origin Energy. The three projects, all located in New South Wales, have development consent to produce up to 30MW of electricity each.

The Cullerin Range wind farm project is located west of Goulburn and will comprise 15 wind turbines to generate up to 30MW of energy. Origin expects to commission the wind farm in 2009.

When fully operational, Cullerin Range will save more than 100,000 tonnes of carbon annually or provide enough renewable electricity to power almost 15,000 typical homes in NSW.

Under the agreement Origin Energy also acquired rights to the proposed Conroy’s Gap and Snowy Plains wind farms in southern NSW.

Each wind farm project once in operation will help to meet the growing electricity demand in NSW with zero emissions of greenhouse gas and zero water consumption.

“We are very pleased to announce this significant milestone for our company” said Epuron Executive Director Andrew Durran. “These sites are among the best in NSW with excellent wind resources and access to existing power lines”.

Origin Chief Operating Officer, Karen Moses said “The Epuron deal will see Origin build its own wind facilities for the first time, deepening integration in this area”.

In addition to the sale of the three projects, Epuron has entered into a strategic relationship agreement with Origin Energy providing an option for development of a further 500MW of Epuron sites.
