Hydrogen
Ark Energy is at the forefront of developing Australia’s renewable hydrogen industry.
Its first major project, the SunHQ Hydrogen Hub, is located within the Sun Metals precinct and will help decarbonise haulage in north Queensland.
Phase 1 of SunHQ involves a 1 MW proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser that will produce renewable hydrogen from a behind-the-meter connection to the co-located Sun Metals Solar Farm. SunHQ will enable sister company Townsville Logistics to decarbonise its heavy vehicle fleet operating between the Sun Metals zinc refinery and the Port of Townsville, and have additional capacity to supply third-party customers. It will be one of the largest fully integrated, renewable hydrogen production and refuelling facilities in Australia.
Ark Energy is also developing the Han-Ho Hydrogen Hub, a renewable hydrogen and ammonia production and export facility, settobeone of the largest hydrogen facilities with behind-the-meter renewable energy generation. Han-Ho will create a renewable energy export corridor and supply chainfrom north Queensland, Australia to the world.
