The Sun Metals zinc refinery's decarbonisation journey commenced in 2018 with investment in building the Sun Metals Solar Farm.

Sun Metals Solar Farm has a registered capacity of 121 MW ­AC, and includes approximately 1.26 million solar PV modules. It is the largest integrated industrial use solar farm in Australia and supplies around 25% of the refinery's electricity needs.
