Prime Minister visits Ark Energy and Sun Metals

Major announcement to advance NQ hydrogen plans

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited Ark Energy’s offices in Townsville on Saturday 14 January 2023 to announce the release of guidelines for the Townsville Region Hydrogen Hub, a program designed to accelerate northern Queensland’s hydrogen industry, backed by $70 million investment from the Australian Government.

Ark Energy is pioneering green hydrogen development in North Queensland with the SunHQ Hydrogen Hub, set to decarbonise the truck fleet serving sister company, the Sun Metals Zinc refinery.
